BrainPOP

Hi Everyone,
I just wanted to share a site with you that we use all the time in school with our 6th graders. Have you heard of BrainPOP and BrainPOP Jr? They are wonderful sites with kid-friendly video clips and quizzes in every subject area and topic you can think of. We especially use it often in science and language arts. It is a great resource to use no matter what you are teaching. BrainPOP is for middle schoolers and BrainPOP Jr. is for the younger grades. You have to sign up to become a member, last year our school had a grant, so we had unlimited access to it. Right now, you can sign up for a free 14-day trial to check it out. Please look at this site if you haven't already! Hope you can use it. We don't go a day without it!!

ePALS

I just wanted to post the website that I am going to use to hopefully find someone internationally for our telecollaborative lesson plan. I e-mailed a teacher in Buenos Aires, Argentina who seemed to have what I was looking for posted on her class profile in relation to my holiday lesson plan idea. I'm just waiting back to hear from her. I will let you know how it goes. Good Luck!!

Young Author's Workshop

Every year at school in Language Arts, we do a Young Author's Project, where the students create a published piece after following the basic steps of the writing process. This website listed below has some great resources for any type of writing projects in any subject area. Beginning with Ideas and ending with Publishing, each step of the writing process that you click on will bring you to pages and pages of writing tips, FAQ's, ideas, interactive writing sites, writing centers, advice columns, and so much more. It really is such a limitless site, with tons of useful information that is kid friendly and fun. We all know how hard it is to make writing enjoyable for students! Try it out and let me know what you think!
